HOW WE STARTED
Hammock operations started in July by two dynamic individuals – Girija & Chandran, with just 3 people, some hired furniture and an office of 500 sq. ft.

We commenced GSA (General Sales Agents) operations and also started handling the ticketing of Microsoft when it set up operations in Bangalore. The vision and business ethics interested Dilip Kumar, who threw up his job at Marcopolo and joined the gang of 3.
Till now we had been organizing holidays only for people within India. Hammock also wanted to cater to their clients’ needs of going abroad. Hence, we decided to venture into international destinations and tours for all those who wanted to explore the world. We wanted to become not only the best travel agents in Bangalore but also the best travel agents in India.
Hammock received TAAI Membership (Travel Agents Association of India) and we started providing the best travel deals to our customer.
After 4 years of catering to the need of the individual traveller, Hammock decided to venture into the corporate arena. Our first client was Wipro Technologies as they recognized our potential to become the best travel website. We handled their Long Service Awards and we are proud of the fact that to this date (12 years and running) our associating with Wipro continues successfully.
Hammock had about 20 GSA & affiliations (National & International). We also received IATO (Indian Association of Tour Operators) and TAFI (Travel Agents Federation of India) membership. During the same year, Hammock also became one of the founder members of Karnataka Tourism Forum (KTF).
Hammock stopped all GSA operations. We also took over the entire floor of our current office, thereby expanding from a 500 sq. ft space to 2700 sq. ft. We also expanded our corporate reach, working with companies such as HP, Biocon, TCS, GE etc.
Mr.Dilip Kumar becomes the Executive Director of Hammock Holidays. Our growth continues in a steady manner thanks to our loyal clients who referred their friends and family to us. Having done close to no marketing in the first 10 years of our experience, we are very grateful to all those who ensured that we continues to be a success.
Hammock Shifted office from Domlur to Indiranagar on March 2008. Currently we have two floors and an office full of enthusiastic travel consultants.
Though holidays are our passion and our core business, we decided to expand our service portfolio in order to take our services to our corporate clients to the next level. We added fine dining options with partners such as The Taj Group of restaurants, Mainland China, Oh! Calcutta, Ente Kerala, Benjarong, Teppan and lots of others. We also entered into the Spa & Wellness space with Ista Spa, Four Fountains etc and the Life style segment with partners such as World of Titan, Fastrack, Shoppers Stop etc.
This year promises to be full of new changes and additions for Hammock – starting off with our brand new website that you are looking at currently! There are many more changes and value additions that are planned for our customers – both individuals and corporates. Stay tuned to find out more!
